Britney Spears spoke of ‘freedom’ just before the news of her dad Jamie announcing he was ‘willing’ to step aside when the ‘time was right’.
The Toxic hitmaker also shared a cryptic post afterward, featuring a drawing of a woman from behind with butterflies.
It comes as her dad James ‘Jamie’ Spears’ legal team filed a motion he would remove himself from her conservatorship, “but the transition needs to be orderly and include a resolution of matters pending before the court.”
The news of the breakthrough in the case, which has been ongoing for several years, follows the conservatorship being put in place after Britney’s public breakdowns in 2008, excited fans across the world.
Jamie Spears’ lawyers told NBC that the motion doesn’t mean the dad will step down now, but “when the time is right”.
Before the news broke last night, Britney uploaded a video of her dancing on Instagram.
She wrote in the post: “I’m very hesitant when dancing but letting go is freedom.”
The star, just hours later, then shared a picture of a woman standing in a pink dress and flowers, with a butterfly near her shoulder.
The cryptic image didn’t have a caption, and Britney chose not to add any words to the photo.
But fans were quick to rush to the comments following the news her conservatorship battle may soon come to an end.
One follower wrote: “Congratulations Britney on your victory. We love you!”
Another penned: “FreeBritney,” and a third said, “Freedom is near!”
One fan chose to include lyrics from one of her hits, writing: “Stronger than yesterday!”
Before another follower told the star: “It’s all working it’s self out in your favor! Finally after all these years! We love you and we are with you.”
Her picture has been liked almost 500,000 times and has 21,000 comments just four hours after being uploaded.
Britney’s attorney released a statement yesterday, telling TMZ: “We are pleased but not necessarily surprised that Mr Spears and his lawyer finally recognise that he must be removed.
“We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms Spears and others.”
Rosengart continued: “We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future.
“In the interim, rather than making false accusations and taking cheap shots at his own daughter, Mr Spears should step aside immediately.”
