Britney Spears has spoken out that she felt like a “slave” amid her ongoing conservatorship battle.
The star appeared in court on Wednesday, with the hearing delayed to around 2.10pm LA time due to technical difficulties.
Addressing the court via a remote link, Britney said: “Ma’am, I’m not here to be anyone’s slave.”
She added that while performing, “I wasn’t good, I was GREAT.”
The Oops… I Did It Again songstress continued: “I’m so angry I can’t sleep, and I am depressed. I want to be heard… I want changes and I want changes going forward. I deserve changes.”
Britney told the court: “I just want my life back, it’s been 13 years and it’s enough. It’s enough and it makes no sense at all… I’m done.
“I want to sue my family to be totally honest with you.”
Explaining her reasons behind her request for a court hearing, Britney said: “I want to be able to hand pick my own lawyer.
“The main reason why I’m here is because I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated.”
Britney went as far as to say that her dad should be “in jail”, adding: “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management … they should be in jail.”
The songstress also said that she wants to “get married and have a baby”, but has not been allowed to do so.
“I have an IUD inside of myself so that I don’t get pregnant, but [my team doesn’t] want me to have any more children,” she said, labelling the conservatorship “abusive”.
“They have me going to therapy three times a week and to a psychiatrist,” Britney continued, alleging that when she was forced to attend a facility in Westlake, her team apparently knew that paparazzi would be present to take unflattering photographs.

Her dad Jamie was originally afforded a temporary conservatorship back in 2008, when Britney was committed to a psychiatric hospital for the second time.
The order was later extended indefinitely, with a judge at the time deeming her to be “susceptible to undue influence”.
In 2019, the singer was due to begin a new residency in Las Vegas, but declined the opportunity amid her father’s health fears, after he “almost died” in hospital.
Britney stated at the time: “It’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.
“I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand.”
The #FreeBritney movement has been mounting in recent months, with various documentaries looking into her legal battles.
