Carol Kirkwood says she and Charlie Stayt are 'always checking each other out'

BBC Breakfast newsreader Charlie Stayt and meteorologist Carol Kirkwood were forthcoming with their flirtations on Thursday’s show.

Their smiley antics forced co-star Naga Munchetty, 46, to confront them about their actions live on the programme.

Naga’s line of questioning came after Carol had presented the weather and later began to waft her hand at the presenters in the studio.

Charlie, 58, said: “Look at you with your wavy hand.”

To which Naga interrupted: “Are you two checking each other out today?”

In response Carol blurted: “We are always checking each other out.”

Later on in the show, Carol explained that the weather would be very “muggy in and out of London today”.

Carol told viewers the heatwave was coming to a swift end with thunder storms expected this evening, although she warned that not all of us will see them.

Naga noticed the flirtatious antics and jokingly quizzed the pair

The weather expert also warned that pollen levels were “really high” across the UK at the moment.

As the weather segment finished, Naga quizzed Carol about hay fever suffers at the moment.

The host said: “I suspect some of us will be happy that the wet weather is coming, I mean hay fever sufferers it must be better for?”

Carol later explained that hay fever sufferers were not out of the woods with the weather changing

Looking unhopeful, Carol chirped back: “It will but what we normally see is that when it rains it [the pollen count] rises.”

Hay fever seems to be a very topical subject at the moment after Eastenders star Natalie Cassidy took to social media with an alarming video to speak about her own suffering with the seasonal allergy.

The soap star admitted that she was at “breaking point” because it had been so bad this year.

She said: “I can’t breathe. I can’t see hardly, and this hay fever is off the wall this year.

“It’s not an enjoyable experience, and I’d like to pour Optrex into my eyes all day and get into a freshly-washed bed, which has been in the tumble dryer unfortunately, not on a line, which you should want – and I want to go to sleep and wake up in October.

“I’m going to try and go outside and enjoy the paddling pool with me children, but I’m at breaking point.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am-9am.
