Catherine Tyldesley has revealed that she spent two weeks ‘living on lettuce’ in a bid to prepare for steamy sex scenes in her new drama Viewpoint.
She worked hard to stick to her strict diet only to discover that all but one of the sexy scenes had been cut from the episodes in the final cut.
The former Coronation Street actress plays the character of Kate Tuckman in the new ITV drama series.
Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of This Morning she said: “I spent two weeks living on lettuce. And then I watched it back and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s it’.
“That was unusual because we wouldn’t take our masks off until a take so kissing with a mask on is all kinds of weird.”
She also went the extra mile and shaved her legs in preparation for the sexy romps which she confessed she hadn’t done since the start of the coronavirus pandemic last year.
She shared: “I went to shave my legs that morning and my husband went, ‘I’ve not seen shaved legs since week one [of lockdown], this is wonderful!’”
Catherine was grateful to return to work on Viewpoint during the pandemic because she was struggling emotionally after losing her grandfather to Covid and going through her mum being hospitalised with the virus.
She explained: “At one point my mum was in intensive care and my grandad, unfortunately, was in the ward below dying.
“I think the cruellest thing has been people not being able to say goodbye and not being able to be with their loved ones when they’re struggling. That’s just been very hard for so many people.”

She added: “I’ve been so open about it because I thought it’s all well and good me posting pictures of me making sourdough and banana bread and going on lovely walks, but actually we were all struggling.
“We all have our own stories from the past year and I thought it was really important to be open about that.
“There were a couple of very dark weeks for me when my grandad was passing and my mum was poorly and we couldn’t get to her, it was beyond stressful.”
