Christine McGuinness shares the sweet reason she refuses to call her husband 'Paddy'

Beauty queen Christine McGuinness, 33, had a Sliding Doors moment when it came to meeting husband Paddy.

As she reveals in her newly released autobiography, she almost stayed home that night.

“It was actually on a trip home from Paris when I met my husband,” she reveals.

“I got a call from my modelling agent. ‘There’s an event in Liverpool, please can you go to it?’ she asked.

“’I’m really tired, I don’t think I can go,’ I told her. But she was persistent. ‘Please just go, Christine,’ she said. ‘It’s a nice event – a tennis tournament, I just want you to do a bikini fashion show with the other girls.'”

Luckily for Christine, she went along with her agent’s request, and got herself ready.

Anyone who has followed the high profile couple over the years will enjoy the sweet detail that Christine then reveals in the book.

“And thank God I caved in, because that’s where I met Patrick, at the age of 19,” she says.

“By the way, I don’t call my husband Paddy, I’ve always called him Patrick, because that’s how he introduced himself to me.”

“He was at the event with a mutual friend who I’d done a lot of charity work with, Dave.

“Patrick wasn’t too famous at the time. This was before he hosted Take Me Out and he hadn’t done much TV at all.”

In fact, former Real Housewives of Cheshire star Christine also reveals in her book that she still hasn’t watched the shows that Paddy made with Peter Kay.

Christine and Paddy McGuinness now have three children together

That’s despite Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights and Max And Paddy’s Road To Nowhere giving him his big break.

She also reveals in the book that Paddy/Patrick was too shy to come and say hello, but there was an exchange of phone numbers later thanks to their mutual friend Dave.

Eventually, a night out in Liverpool was arranged.

“I met up with Patrick and we spent most of the night just us two in a secluded booth, laughing,” Christine recalls.

Christine is no longer part of the Real Housewives of Cheshire cast

“I didn’t think for a second I was going to marry him and have kids with him. We shared a kiss that night, but that was it. The rest is history I suppose, but our relationship was definitely a slow-burner.”
