Chucky Thompson dead: Bad Boy Records producer dies aged 53 as tributes pour in

Hip-hop music producer Chucky Thompson has died aged 53 it has been confirmed, while tributes from the music industry pour in to the musician best known as a member of Diddy’s Hitmen production team with Bad Boy Records.

In a statement released on Twitter, Chucky’s publicist Tamar Juda wrote: “It is with a very heavy heart that I can confirm the passing of Chucky Thompson.

“To anyone in his orbit, you know how generous he was with his energy, creativity and love.

“Both the music industry, and the world, has lost a titan.”

In an additional tweet, she wrote: “I’ll miss you so very much, Chucky. And thank you.”

Chucky worked with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Mary J Blige and The Notorious B.I.G, receiving a Grammy nomination for his work on Mary J Blige’s 1994 album, My Life.

His work was highly supported by members of the music industry, with DJ Young Guru sharing a touching tribute as the news was announced on his death.

In a post on Instagram, DJ Young Guru wrote: “There is nothing I can write that will take away this pain. I have to say RIP to my mentor, my big brother, the man who changed my life forever.

“You were the kindest person the world has ever seen. You were the most gifted musician I have ever been around. You treated me like family from day one.

“You made a point to the labels that I had to fly to New York with you on every session, you put me in rooms with Biggie. I will forever be in your debt and I will forever be your little brother.

“This one hurts so bad I can’t even explain it. RIP, there will never be another you.”

DJ Kid Capri also shared a tribute to the talented producer, explaining that he had received a call days prior to inform him that Chucky Thompson was being inducted into the Washington DC Hip Hop hall of fame.

He added: “This is crazy. SMH. Rest well legend.”

Musicians made it clear that the producer will be missed, as singer Tank also said he had “studied this man” and was “blessed” to work with him.

He wrote on Instagram: “I studied this man and I was eventually blessed to work with this man. A hometown hero and a legend to all who really do this. I thank God for your time here and pray to have your kind of impact on the universe.”

A cause of death is yet to be revealed.
