BBC regular Clara Amfo is set to host the official homecoming party for Team GB following this year’s Olympics and Paralympics.
The DJ, 37, will head up the VIP packed event which will take place at the SSE Arena in Wembley on August 15.
The evening will combine some of the biggest names in sport and entertainment as the nation celebrates our athletes.
Anne-Marie, Bastille and Griff have all been confirmed on the line-up, as well as Ran’n’ Bone Man and Laura Mvula.
Talking about the bash, Clara told Daily Star: “It would be an understatement to say that the road to Tokyo has not been easy for Team GB but their dedication and passion to the sports they love has been nothing short of inspiring!
“I am so honoured to be The National Lottery Team GB Homecoming host on what promises to be a brilliant show full of celebration and love!
“Every single athlete deserves the very best homecoming and what better place than Wembley with these world class artists.”
Meanwhile, Team GB gymnast Louis Smith added: “Without the continued support of National Lottery players, British sport wouldn’t be where it is today.
“The National Lottery’s Homecoming events not only say thank you to the players but also welcome home Team GB and ParalympicsGB.”
Earlier this month it was confirmed by Olympic bosses thwart the sporting event will go ahead without a crowd.
It had been hoped that the pandemic would be reaching an end, but a recent spike in cases in Japan has caused bosses to take drastic action to ensure the safety of those competing.
Talking about the decision, London 2012 gold medal winner Greg Rutherford said: “It will have a massive effect. I feel so incredibly sorry for all the athletes.
“They’re going to miss out on the thing that is my fondest memory of competing at an Olympic Games.
“At London 2012 in particular, having an entire crowd behind me and giving me that support genuinely helped me win the gold medal.
“I feel really sorry for the Japanese athletes. It’s their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have their home Games. They’re not going to experience what I did.”
