Coronation Street's Corey Brent star leaks there'll be 'fire on the street'

Coronation Street star Maximus Evans has spilt there will be “fire on the street” in upcoming scenes, as Corey Brent crashes Seb Franklin’s funeral.

The soap star has played the twisted Corrie villain since 2019, but his toxic behaviour has escalated dramatically in recent months.

Corrie fans were stricken to witness Corey and his gang violently beat Seb and his girlfriend Nina Lucas, in scenes that were filmed with help from The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, highlighting the harrowing impact of hate crimes.

Set later died in hospital, his head wounds proving fatal, leaving his mum Abi and Nina – who survived the ordeal – hollow with grief.

This week, Coronation Street will air a series of post-watershed episodes, depicting the fallout of Seb’s funeral, as his mum Abi tries to exact revenge on Corey.

Actor Maximus Evans has played the dreaded Corey Brent for the past two years

During an appearance on Monday’s Lorraine, with Cat Deeley filling in for regular host Lorraine Kelly, Maximus opened up about the drama to come.

“Corey decides it’s best for him to show up at the funeral which is just bound for disaster,” he announced.

“It’s definitely not the right choice there. So what we’ll see is, kind of, the reactions from Abi and Asha.”

Corey coerced his girlfriend Asha Alahan, played by Tanisha Gorey, into providing him with an alibi for the attack, though she has been plagued by a sense of doubt in recent scenes.

Maximus went on: “Asha is a character that has slowly slipped away now from Corey. She’s started to understand his true motives and that he actually really is a wrong’un.”

He finished: “Tonight what we’ll probably see is a bit of fire on the street as he shows up.”

The soap star went on to admit he isn’t a fan of watching his scenes back, as he tends to pick apart his performance as an actor.

“Truth be told I always find it quite hard to watch myself,” he confessed.

However, Maximus made an exception when it came to the poignant attack episode, which had many viewers in tears as Seb and Nina were left for dead.

“I definitely watched the attack episode,” he said, before elaborating as to why he dislikes watching himself, saying: “I am just in my head I’m thinking, ‘what could I have done’.”

Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am and Coronation Street airs at 9pm tonight on ITV.
