Coronation Street's original Aadi Alahan star now – shock exit to jet-setting lifestyle

Aadi Alahan and his twin sister Asha have been embroiled in plenty of high profile Coronation Street storylines recently.

From Asha’s sexting storyline with Corey Brent to the hate crime attack on Seb Franklin and Nina Lucas, the young Corrie cast is really making waves in Soapland.

Adam Hussain, who joined the cast last year as Aadi, quickly became a fan favourite when he made his debut.

The youngster is currently fighting for his life after the Alahan family were involved in an explosive car crash in recent scenes.

However Adam’s not the first actor to step into Aadi’s shoes, as the role was taken on by Zennon Ditchett from 2009 until 2019.

Before that, Aadi was played as a baby by triplets Hannah, Harris and Ria Ahmed.

Zennon made the decision to leave the Corrie cobbles in order to concentrate on his A-levels.

But he has been spotted in the soap since being replaced by Adam – in the pictures framed in dad Dev’s house.

In June last year, fans on Twitter spotted the images of the previous Aadi, after being convinced the teenager had “aged a decade overnight”.

“Old Aadi lives on in the pictures in Dev’s house. Schoolboy error by #Corrie,” one fan pointed out on Twitter at the time.

Now Zennon keeps his personal life very private, but he has opened a Depop store in order to sell his unwanted designer threads.

All the clothes Zennon offers are “new with tags”, and he offers “Manchester meets only” with “no refunds”.

At the moment, Zennon is selling off a boxed pair of Giuseppe Zenotti high top shoes in a UK size 8, which he describes as in “great condition” and “only worn twice”.

He has also managed to shift a Dsquared hat, a Versace belt, and a Supreme puffer jacket.

And, judging by Zennon’s profile picture on the website, he looks to be leading a jet-setting life, pictured shirtless by the beach in white board shorts and with a fanny pack over his shoulder.

The actor is clutching a pair of red chunky headphones, pairing the look with a snazzy pair of sliders.

Though Zennon’s Instagram account is set to private, fans are able to view his profile picture, which shows him standing outside what looks to be a construction site with his arms folded, rocking a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

And his former co-stars follow the account, including Tanisha Gorey (Asha Alahan), Ellie Leach (Faye Windass) and Elle Mulvaney (Amy Barlow).

Upon taking over the role from Zennon, Adam Hussain had made his name in TV drama The Bay as Josh Nubhai.

He also starred in Secret Life of Boys as Mohammed, Absentia as Rafiq, and No Man’s Land as Nasser Jeune before making his soap debut.

Speaking about joining the soap, Adam said: “I am excited to play the role of Aadi, putting my own twist on him as the character becomes involved in an important new storyline.

“I was already good friends with Tanisha Gorey, before coming to the Street, which hugely helps with portraying the bond of brother and sister.”

Adam continued at the time: “Everyone at Coronation Street has been so welcoming, bringing me into their family and treating me as one of their own.

“I have always associated Coronation Street with togetherness which is so important at this time.

“Having already filmed the start of the story before we had to stop production I look forward to returning as part of the amazing team who bring entertainment and joy to the screens across the nation.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm
