Coronation Street’s Abi Franklin has been going through a tough time in the northern soap, as her son Seb’s murderers face a tense trial.
Seb was murdered back in May after he and his girlfriend Nina Lucas, played by Mollie Gallagher, were chased and set upon by a vile gang.
The thugs were led by Corey Brent who has now been acquitted of her son’s murder by the courts – leaving bereaved mum Abi understandably furious.
In an exclusive chat with the Daily Star during the National Television Awards on Thursday, Abi actress Sally Carman revealed what could be in store for the soap’s storyline.
Sally said: “I think there might be some repercussions, we will just have to wait and see.”
When asked if Corey could become a serial killer Sally said that there “may be” chance for this to happen and that her character could be at risk.
Sally added: “Has she got to watch her back? Yeah, I think she does.
“She would absolutely be at risk.”
The actress went on to state that Abi certainly has it in her to put up a good fight though and may have some revenge planned on her own accord.
She continued: “Well I mean she’s a fiery character so anything is possible but I’m sure there is something brewing.
“All I can say is Super Soap Week is going to be very interesting, there’s a lot that’s going to go down.”
The 40-year-old also spilled the beans on what fans can expect from the soap in the future after it won the award for Best Serial Drama at the National Television Awards.
Sally said: “There’s a lot of beans coming up, some beans that could be something you’ve never seen before from Coronation Street, that could rival the tram crash.
“It’s amazing. You’re going to have your socks blown off and your hair blown off.”
Sally was speaking to the Daily Star at the Heineken sponsored National Television Awards at London’s O2 Arena.
Iain MacLeod, executive producer of Corrie added: “We have tried to look at the last 12 months and the limited way soaps have been forced to tell stories and we tried to subvert that.
“We’re back – it’s going to be big, the classic births, deaths and marriages. it’s going to be cinematic, it’s going to be huge.”
When further questioned on whether audiences will see one of the characters die, he replied: “I mean. Yes…”
