Coronation Street and Emmerdale will return to screens next week after they were pulled off air on Friday in the wake of Prince Philip’s death.
ITV has now confirmed that both soaps will return to screens on Monday April 12 for special one-hour episodes, The Mirror has reported.
Corrie and Emmerdale fans were left really disappointed when their favourite soaps were axed on Friday night in the wake of Prince Philip’s death.
ITV instead broadcast a news special dedicated to Prince Philip after his death.
The BBC also changed their programming and scrapped EastEnders to make way for programming about the late Duke of Edinburgh.
Corrie and Emmerdale will be back at their usual times on Monday April 12 and both soaps will air one-hour specials, so people can catch up on the shows.
Many fans had taken to social media to voice their opinions on the programmes being cancelled.
One social networker said: “So stupid that Corrie is cancelled because of Prince Philip like how does that make sense.
Another ranted: “Why do we need a tribute to Prince Philip instead of #Emmerdale? There can’t be anything they haven’t already said about him on TV today!”
While a third added: “”Say what you want about Prince Philip, but I just know if this difficult time he would have wanted us be able to watch #EastEnders #ripprincephilip”.
The news of the Duke of Edinburgh’s tragic passing was confirmed by the Palace at midday on Friday.
On Saturday, the Royal Family broke its silence by sharing a tearjerking tribute on social media.
