Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve ‘worked out’ Sharon Bentley’s real reason for returning to the cobbles after reappearing on the soap on Wednesday night.
Sharon turned up in The Kabin on Wednesday after revealing she’d nominated her former foster mum Rita for the Golden Heart Awards.
Later in the episode, Sharon and Rita shared a drink at the Rovers and Sharon asked the soap stalwart how people on the street were doing – including Leanne Battersby.
Sharon had beef with Leanne back in the 90s, when they worked at The Kabin together.
But viewers are convinced there’s another, more sinister reason for Sharon’s sudden interest.

“Asking about Leanne, is she with that Harvey the drug dealer?” one fan wondered on Twitter.
Another wrote: “Mmm think that Sharon could be Harvey’s mother.”
Someone else theorised: “Think she’s connected to Harvey in some way…”
A fourth viewer wondered: “And so it starts…. why does Sharon want Leanne?”
There were some tense scenes between Jenny and Sharon as they butted heads, with Jenny later saying: “Don’t you be fooled by her. I don’t know what her game is yet, but I’m gonna find out.”

And Gemma clearly didn’t trust Sharon either, wanting to look out for mum-figure Rita.
She quickly called Jenny and spoke to her from behind the bar in hushed tones.
Sharon quizzed her former foster mum about people living on the street, including Sally and Kevin, the Duckworths, and Terry.
She also shared that she’d battled cancer in the past.
But it wasn’t until she asked about Leanne that viewers’ concerns solidified.

Leanne was forced to flee the street with Nick and Simon after baddie Harvey was arrested, and he swore to exact his revenge.
The family headed into hiding in a safe-house to protect Simon and Leanne from Harvey’s network of thugs after she launched a sting operation gone wrong.
Harvey had been forcing Simon and later mum Leanne to deal drugs for him.
Some even theorised she could be lying about her cancer diagnosis, with one fan turning to social media to write: “Lying about having cancer, taking advantage of the woman she called her mother, stealing…”

Someone else said: “Hope Sharon’s not doing a ‘pretending to have had cancer to scam people’ storyline.”
And another predicted: “Bet it’s all BS about her having cancer.”
But plenty more fans were pleased to see Tracie Bennett make her return as Sharon, and welcomed her warmly back to the street.

Elsewhere in Wednesday’s episode, Fizz finally found out that ex Tyrone was shacking up with Alina as Emma let it slip the Romanian beauty had been sleeping with Irish hunk Lucas.
But Lucas had no idea what Fizz was talking about when she confronted him, dubbing Alina the Weatherfield bike.
And it was up to Tyrone to fess up to his continued affair with Alina despite Fizz’s heartbreak.
