Actress Ruxandra Porojnicu who is best known to fans as Alina Pop in ITV’s Coronation Street joined the much loved series in 2019 and has gripped the nation with her chaotic storylines ever since.
After proving to be a popular character in the soap, the young star’s contract was extended due to her crucial involvement in major soap drama.
Porojnicu’s character Alina first joined the Street as a nail technician, but it was later revealed that she was a victim of human trafficking.
In more recent times, Corrie viewers have been hooked on Alina’s raunchy affair with mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, which left his partner Fiz Brown devastated.
Though Alina lives a fairly turbulent life on screen, many are unaware of the star’s personal life off screen.
To celebrate the actress turning 28 on July 5, Daily Star have taken a look into her personal life.
Ruxandra’s early career

Ruxandra Porojnicu was born on 5 July 1993 in Bucharest, Romania. The young star discovered that she had a love for acting from a young age and decided to study the art at university.
After graduating from the University of Bucharest with a degree in acting and puppetry, Porojnicu felt it was best to leave her country and find acting opportunities elsewhere.
To enhance her prospects in the acting profession, the young star decided to move to London.
Porojnicu has previously spoken about having to “start over” when she migrated to England. She also stated that she only had £300 to her name when she moved.
To make ends meet, Porojnicu worked at Pizza Express and took acting classes during her spare time.
Modelling and Coronation Street

During her early twenties, Porojnicu began working as an extra. She also started to partake in unpaid modelling jobs to build her portfolio.
Eventually the young star got signed to an agency that specialised in advertisements. The agency also had an acting department which was ideal for the rising star.
In 2019, Porojnicu received an audition for Alina Pop on Coronation Street and was involved in a major human trafficking storyline.
Talking to Daily Star at the time regarding the role the actress said: “This is why it is such an important storyline because this really could’ve been me in Alina’s situation.
“I was desperate to find work when I first arrived and looking back four years down the line, I had no idea how things worked in England.
“When I’m at Corrie I’m like ‘Am I even working?’. It’s just so much fun and everyone has been so lovely.”
Modelling

Porojnicu is definitely a beauty and modelling was certainly the perfect route to take when embarking on her acting career.
While in Coronation Street, viewers are accustomed to seeing the brunette babe fresh-faced with her makeup lightly applied.
But away from the show Porojnicu gives her Instagram followers more of a glamorous look.
For one of her photos that she posted earlier this year, the Corrie star wore a purple jacket while she gave fans a glimpse of her bra underneath.
Porojnicu stared seductively down the camera lens while wearing a light smokey eye to add to the look.
She captioned the sultry photo: “Mood: Listening ‘Eminem- ‘Till I collapse’.”
Relationship status
Though the actress has a rich relationship history onscreen, due to her character once being involved in a love triangle with Seb Franklin, there’s not much currently known about Porojnicu’s real life relationship status.
In 2019, pictures showed her enjoying a drink out with Seb who is played by actor Harry Visinoni.
However, neither of the stars confirmed it was anything other than them hanging out as friends after they had finished fiming.
Therefore it is believed that the actress is currently single.
