Corrie's Sean Ward hit by outcry after urging fans against getting Covid vaccine

Former Coronation Street actor Sean Ward, who played nasty Callum Logan on the ITV soap, has launched a tirade against the COVID-19 vaccines as he posted a bizarrely angry video on his Instagram stories today.

The message, which goes against all medical advice and proven results of the UK’s ongoing vaccination programme, prompted fury from his followers and a slew of fans even unfollowed him as a result.

Sean, 32, was enraged as he warned that people who choose to take the coronavirus vaccine will become “super spreaders” and claimed it would cause case numbers to rise again.

But his base view was that the vaccines’ high statistics of success were actually not as strong as the figures released showing how likely it is you will survive with Covid.

The Corrie star sparked fury as he told fans not to get Covid vaccine

New data published by Public Health England today has shown that the vaccination programme has so far prevented 6,100 deaths in Britons aged 70 and over.

More than 28million people have already received their first jabs and it’s firmly placed the UK as a global frontrunner in fighting the deadly pandemic.

Yet when Sean addressed his fans, he ranted: “Morning guys, this is just your daily reminder that Covid-19 has an effective survival rate of 99.96 per cent if you are age 0 to 60 with or without an underlying health condition.

“The vaccine has 95. The Johnson & Johnson has 81. So you’re taking the medicine that is putting you more at risk from dying to Covid and you don’t see the problem here [sic].

Sean Ward ranted to his followers about the vaccine and urged them not to take it

“Stop. Stop with the vaccine,” the actor continued. “The more you have the vaccine, the closer we are to them coming to vaccinate the kids.

“Don’t take a medicine that is going to give you a less than effective chance to beat the virus. Come on. Common sense.”

Sean, who was also known for playing fan-favourite Fingers in Our Girl alongside Michelle Keegan, also claimed that because he’s “asymptomatic” he gets “s**t thrown at him” by the public.

“Me as an asymptomatic person gets f***ing s**t flung at them. I lost over a couple of thousand followers because I’m asymptomatic and could now spread it,” Sean went on.

“So if you take the vaccine, you get low to no symptoms. Low to no symptoms, that’s what a vaccine does.

Sean Ward appeared on Coronation Street between 2014 and 2015

“It doesn’t stop transmission, so you can still pass it onto someone, but you’re going to have low to no symptoms. Which I’m sorry, makes you asymptomatic.

“It turns YOU into a super-spreaders. And we’re the f***ing nut jobs. The vaccine is not safe. Stop,” the actor added.

Sean’s video comes after he was slated for turning up to an anti-lockdown protest in central London, where he shared pictures of hundreds of maskless people campaigning against the government’s rules.

PHE head of immunisation Dr Mary Ramsay has said their new study shows how many lives have already been saved by the vaccination programme, and with every passing day “more lives have and will be saved”.

“The vaccines have an excellent safety record and I would encourage anyone who is offered a vaccine to take it as soon as possible,” she added.
