Bafta award winner Dame Helen Mirren has never been shy to reveal her sexy side on screen and has confidently stripped down in no less than 10 of her films in the past.
Though she is incredibly talented at her craft, the actress puts her all into her work and has been known to give fans a tantalising display in front of the camera.
Over the course of her career, Helen, 76, has become an idolised sex symbols and adorned by several fans across the globe.
The star previously confessed that she began stripping off for her film roles very early on in her career but has since admitted that she no longer feels the need to now she is older.
In an interview on US news network CBS, the star said: “My pleasure pillows are purely for my husband.”
Although Helen has opted to take a more covered up approach to her work nowadays, to celebrate her 76th birthday Daily Star have taken a look back at her most sexiest moments.
Age of consent
Helen made her first on screen nude appearance in the film Age of Consent in 1969.
Only 22 years-old at the time, the Oscar winner made sure she left little to the imagination as she stripped completely naked for the role.
In the film, Helen’s character gets undressed for a passionate painter on a remote Australian island and poses nude for the artist in a tranquil ocean.
Although the full version of the film was aired in UK cinemas, overseas distributors were reportedly astonished by the amount of nudity that appeared in the film and cut six minutes from the final edit as a result.
Calendar Girls
In 2003, the blonde bombshell made sure she played her part once again and went completely naked for the British comedy Calendar Girls.
Based on a true story, the film follows a group of middle-aged Yorkshire women who decide to produce a nude calendar to raise money for Leukaemia Research with the support of the Women’s Institutes.
In the film Helen takes part in the classic scene in which she covers her modesty with a basket of fruit.
Calendar Girls director Nigel Cole previously joked that Helen was almost too comfortable on set during her nude scenes.
He said: “After one nude shoot, I recall having to tell Helen Mirren to put her robe back on three or four times”.
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover
Helen wowed audiences once again in one of her most graphic roles to date in the film The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover.
In the movie the iconic actress plays an adulterous wife who begins an affair with the cook.
During the time of the film’s release, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover generated immense controversy from viewers for its extreme depictions of sex and violence and the political messages it was trying to portray.
Speaking about the 1989 Peter Greenaway movie, Helen expressed at the time: “It is a dangerous film. It’s deep and complex and we’re not skating around any issues.”
Hussy
In the 1989 romantic film Hussy, Helen plays the character Beaty who is a prostitute that works at a London cabaret.
Beaty begins a sordid yet steamy affair with sound technician Emory and they eventually fall in love. However Emory grows uncomfortable with Beaty’s line of work.
In the film, Helen’s character can often be seen wearing sultry attire while she performs on stage.
The actress accumulated legions of fans for her racy performance as a call girl in the classic B movie and was applauded for her realistic take.
Caligula
British actress Helen took off her clothes once again for the 1979 film Caligula.
Produced by the pornographic magazine Penthouse, the historical drama based on the Roman Emperor was Helen’s most sexually explicit film to date.
The passionate flick contains X-rated sex scenes in which the actress appears fully naked.
Despite all the nudity and expressive sexual content, the flick was slammed by film critics at the time as they classified it as “trash’” and “degraded”.
In 2008, an uncut version of the cult movie was released.
Nude photoshoot in 2011
Helen decided to undress one more time in 2011 in a nude photoshoot for New York Magazine, but the actress later declared that this would be her last time going naked in front of the camera.
In a CBS interview, the actress said: “I was doing nude scenes [from] the first moment I started doing movies, it was the era.”
She added: “It seemed to be nothing to get your knickers in a twist over.”
“That’s the good thing about getting older, you don’t have to do that sort of thing any more.”
She finished off by saying: “Now, with Game of Thrones, it’s on at 8PM and everything’s a sex scene.”
