Dancing on Ice's Jason Donovan says cocaine addiction left him addicted to porn

Jason Donovan has admitted that at the height of his cocaine addiction he was addicted to watching porn movies.

The Dancing on Ice star has been free of drugs since 2000, but in the nineties he was using the Class A drug on a daily basis.

The former Neighbours actor has admitted that cocaine cost him the best part of a decade of his life and hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Jason’s drug-taking spiralled out of control in 1992 after he became a hate figure when he successfully sued The Face magazine for wrongly claiming he was gay and hiding the fact.

In his 2007 autobiography Between The Lines, Jason spoke about sleepless days and nights snorting the drug on his own in his flat.

The drug gave him seizures and even made him addicted to porn, he said.

By 1995, Jason had a serious drug problem and was taking around three grams of cocaine a day.

Jason met his wife Angela Malloch in 1998 as she was the stage manager on the Rocky Horror Show UK tour he was starring in.

He finally cleaned up his act after she became pregnant with the first of their three kids and told him: “Ditch the drugs or ditch your chance of a loving family life.”

Speaking to The Mirror, 52-year-old Jason said: “Some people are sent to you for a reason. For me, that person was Ange.

“Had it not been for her, I doubt I’d still be standing. She was my saving grace and set to become the real love of my life.”

Jason will compete against the likes of Rebekah Vardy, Faye Brookes and Colin Jackson when he takes to the rink for the 2021 series of Dancing on Ice.

He recently admitted that he’s concerned about potentially ruining any chance of further work if he picks up an injury on the ITV show.

“It’s not a solid floor, and ice is not forgiving,” he said. “That’s the jeopardy.

“I think for me, personally, I have other obligations beyond Dancing on Ice, so those have to be considered and balanced.

“You want to do the best show you can but you want to do a show that’s safe as well. It’s that line between sexy TV and safe TV!”

Dancing on Ice kicks off at 6pm on Sunday night on ITV
