David Walliams confirms he's working on 'Little Britain 2' with Matt Lucas

David Walliams has confirmed that he and Matt Lucas are working on “Little Britain 2”.

However, it is likely to be a far less controversial comedy show, due to the BLM protests and “woke” campaigners.

The pair have come up with a new sketch series featuring themselves dressed up as different characters – just like their old BBC comedy.

Walliams tells ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday: “Me and Matt are meeting up and talking about projects.

“We just have an idea of something we want to do.

“The idea – where we play lots of different characters, which is, you know, something people expect from us – and so we’re just going to start writing it, and if we feel it’s good and we want to share it with people, we’ll ask if anyone wants to put it on TV.”

The duo’s new show will definitely have to have a different feel to it.

Little Britain, which launched in 2003, and Come Fly With Me, which aired in 2010, were removed from BBCiPlayer, Netflix and BritBox last year.

Their characters, which included Walliams dressing up as an overweight black woman called Desiree, and Lucas playing black airport coffee seller Precious, were deemed offensive following the BLM protests.

Woke campaigners also took issue with them poking fun at gay men, transvestites and working class people with the likes of Daffyd Thomas, Emily Howard and Vicky Pollard.

Lucas admits their old shows now seem out-dated: “Society has moved on a lot since then.

“I wouldn’t make that show now.

“I wouldn’t make those jokes about transvestites. I wouldn’t play black characters.”

Walliams also claims Simon Cowell will be back as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent next year.

The show was cancelled this year due to COVID 19 restrictions.

He says: “Apparently Simon’s coming back to the show and we’re meant to be doing the show next year.

“It’s probably been good for the audience, quite nice to have a break and then you have a bit of a comeback.”
