Drew Barrymore has opened up about what happened with the Charlie’s Angels feud between Lucy Liu and Bill Murray.
On the latest episode of her show, The Drew Barrymore Show the 46-year-old shed light on her co-stars’ feud which took place in 2000 while filming Charlie’s Angels.
The Golden Globe winner teased fans and said: “Lucy is out there right now talking about her instance with Bill Murray. Do you want to know what happened? Do you want me to spill the tea?”
The actress then explained how Bill came into filming in “a bad mood”.
She said: “What you have to know is how much Lucy stood up for herself and that was the great thing that came out of an unfortunate circumstance.
“She literally said, ‘I do not accept that kind of behaviour from you.’ And we all supported her and backed her up and we moved forward.”
Drew is still supporting her former co-star decades later and revealed she recently made a video to back her up again.
In 2003 Bill did not appear in the movie’s sequel and Bernie Mac replaced him.
While speaking to Los Angeles Times’ Asian Enough podcast Lucy explained how she and Bill were rehearsing a scene that needed to be reworked after he was away at a family gathering when the changes had been made.
She alleged: “As we’re doing the scene, Bill starts to sort of hurl insults, and I won’t get into the specifics,
“But it kept going on and on. I was, like, ‘Wow, he seems like he’s looking straight at me’.
“I say, ‘I’m so sorry, are you talking to me?’ And clearly, he was, because then it started to become a one-on-one communication.
“Some of the language was inexcusable and unacceptable, and I was not going to just sit there and take it.”
Lucy said she doesn’t regret the confrontation because nobody should “need to condescend or to put other people down”.
However, Bill has not commented on the recent allegations but did discuss the spat in 2009 during an interview with The Times.
He said: ” Look, I will dismiss you completely if you are unprofessional and working with me. When our relationship is professional, and you’re not getting that done, forget it.”
