Fans are thrilled for This Morning host Eamonn Holmes, as he revealed his son has welcomed a baby girl, and he shared her name on Tuesday’s show.
Eamonn and Ruth announced the good news, and welcomed baby Amelia.
His son Declan’s wife Jenny has given birth.
Eamonn, 61, made the proud announcement that “things had changed” since yesterday.
Wife Ruth clapped happily and exclaimed “That you’re a granddad!”
Eamonn smiled: “It wasn’t just me – it was my son Declan and his wife Jenny, they are the happy couple and Jenny gave birth to Amelia.”
He revealed the weight as a bouncing “7lbs and 6 ounces.”
Ruth asked what name he would like to be called: “What are you going to be? Gramps? Grandad?”
“Grumps we came up with, didn’t we? But he didn’t seem to keen on that one.”
He replied: “It surprises me because people come up to me and say ‘He’s too young to be a grandfather.’
“I’ve got people getting in touch with me about glamorous grandad competitions and all kinds of things like that, but my friend Bill has anointed himself Papa.”
Ruth agreed: “I like papa, it’s got a head of the family feel about it.”
He joked: “It’s like the Pope, there’s an infallibility that goes with it. So I’d quite like my grandchildren to call me Papa.”
As they introduced a phone-in about family squabbles, Ruth took Eamonn by surprise and played a Grandad song and serenaded him.
He became emotional over the song: “I was so not ready for this.”
“I’m very, very happy, little Amelia!”
He later revealed that a psychic predicted the new arrival.
Eamonn told Ruth: “It’s very interesting. Before Declan and Jenny announced that they were with child, a psychic contacted me through Instagram.”
“They said to me that I was about to become a grandad. Literally the next day, they told me the news!” he marvelled.
Ruth sang the Twilight Zone ‘spooky’ music and smiled.
Viewers are congratulating the presenter over his happy news.
“Aw congratulations Grandad Eamonn!” said one.

“Congratulations Eamonn, on the birth of your granddaughter, you will be a lovely Papa,” gushed another.
Later when talking about a psychic and seeing what was in your future, and Ruth joked: “Nappies and bottles for you!” to Eamonn.
