Eamonn Holmes mistakenly pays tribute to Daisy Lowe after thinking her dad died

TV legend Eamonn Holmes was left red-faced after suffering a rather awkward social media blunder on Father’s Day.

The 61-year-old This Morning host certainly got the wrong end of the stick when he mistakenly thought model Daisy Lowe’s father had passed away after reading her social media post to him.

The model, 32, was simply wishing her dad a happy Father’s Day as she couldn’t travel to spend the day with him.

But Eamonn sent a well-wishing message to the 32-year-old on Instagram after she had publicly praised her dad – who is musician Gavin Rossdale, 55, from the band Bush.

In Daisy’s original Father’s Day message, she wrote: “HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD – god I miss you….”

However, as professional as he may be in front of the TV cameras, Eamonn clearly didn’t read on as the model continued, writing: “(Global pandemics & living in different continents really suck ). It’s been way too long since I gave you a cuddle. Wishing you the most gorgeous day with my angel brothers.”

One hint that her father was still very much alive and kicking would have been when she said they are “living” in different continents, and she then made it even clearer with her sign off, saying: “You inspire me every day…”

It continued: “I love you more than words could ever express – I can’t wait til we get to have more adventures together again.”

But poor Eamonn missed a trick and innocently wrote a sweet message to her which read: “I had no idea u had lost your Dad Daisy. He must have been so young x”.

Daisy was then quick to clear up Eamonn’s confusion, and replied: “@eamonnholmes he’s just in la where I can’t visit!!! Thank you love xxx”

Shortly after Daisy and Eamonn’s amusing dad-related dialogue, Daisy’s dad then popped up in the comments section to send a loving fatherly message back to his daughter.

He penned: “awwwww my sweet love – you are really so kind and so special ———- i’m so proud of you —-we love you so much and need you to get here to us. we have adventures waiting. and we need your cakes.”

Daisy was 14 years old when she found out Gavin was in fact her dad, after a paternity test revealed that Gavin – who had been her godfather at the time – was actually her parent.
