EastEnders Ben star Max Bowden heartbroken as third close friend dies in 12 months

Eastenders actor Max Bowden has opened up about his sorrow at suddenly losing yet another friend.

The 26-year-old actor recently bid a sad farewell to Maxwell Alexander Grey Thompson, his best pal of 15 years.

Max is obviously in bits at the loss, especially because this makes Maxwell the third mate he’s had to say goodbye to this year alone.

The star previously revealed his buddy Luke Goodings had died in June, while another, Terry Mills , had passed away before that in February.

Max, who has played Ben Mitchell in much-loved BBC soap Easties since 2019, took to Instagram yesterday to express his grief at the latest loss.

He shared a few snaps of the pair having a laugh together and with other friends too.

The first shot shows Max and the late Maxwell cheekily sticking out their tongues, while a later pic sees the smiling mates posing on a boat.

Along with the heart-breaking photoset, soap star Max posted a lengthy emotional tribute to his best pal.

“Thank you for being my best friend for 15 years, for walking every avenue with me, entering into battle with me every time, lighting up my every minute of every day, and for loving me like you did”, he started off.

The actor went on to say: “I will never have a better friend, and I will never love a man so much in my life. You were my soulmate, my rock, my ride or die, my everything – and I am so grateful that I got to call you my best friend”.

The rest of the caption was just as touching, including a promise to look after Maxwell’s “girl” and a thanks for “showing [Max] what loyalty truly means”.

The heartbreaking news adds to Max’s grief after losing two other buddies earlier this year.

One was Exeter showbiz agent Terry Mills, who sadly died alone in a Mexican resort after contracting Covid.

At the time, Max revealed he was devastated at the loss, explaining that Terry had been there for him through hard times.

With a final farewell, he wrote: “Sleep well, my wonderful friend”.
