EastEnders fans spot clue that 'immortal' Phil Mitchell won't be killed off in fire

A huge blaze has taken up the Mitchell household in EastEnders as four people have been left at risk after finding themselves trapped inside.

Phil Mitchell, Janine Butcher, her daughter Scarlett and Tommy Moon were all inside the property when flames engulfed the Albert Square residence.

While it’s not looking good for Phil, who was left on the floor after Janine ran through the house following a tiff with Tommy and Scarlett, fans are adamant he will survive.

The end of Friday night’s episode saw Phil on the floor knocked out as smoke from Scarlett’s cardigan which Janine had thrown over her shoulder surrounded him.

It followed Shirley Carter hitting Phil around the head after an argument between the two over Tina – but it was shortly after Phil started cooking, leaving the hob still on.

As Janine stormed into the property, Tommy and Scarlett sprinted upstairs and Janine followed on, leaving Phil downstairs while all three of them were unaware of the fire that was starting.

The final scenes saw the kitchen slowly becoming more and more smoke-filled as it looked like curtains for Phil who was the only one left downstairs – but some fans spotted a clue that suggests he won’t be killed off.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “Phil Mitchell moved too much for a dead man. He is definitely NOT dead.”

Others were referencing how hard Phil appears to be fighting despite seemingly being unconscious, with many viewers adamant that his movements is a nod to his survival.

Another wrote: “Phil is immortal, he won’t die.”

A third person wrote: “Phil is virtually indestructible.”

Elsewhere, fans were questioning how he has lasted this long – Phil has had a fair few run-ins with multiple people and faced many near death experiences, but he’s yet to be killed off.

One user wrote: “Phil Mitchell must have a concrete head? How many more times is it gonna get bashed in before he gets brain dead?”

Although viewers are adamant Phil is going to survive, the same can’t be said for the others, with Tommy, Scarlett and Janine all upstairs and at risk.
