EastEnders icon Jack Ryder compared to David Beckham after hunky transformation

Lorraine fans were floored on Wednesday morning as they pointed out the similarity between former EastEnders actor Jack Ryder and David Beckham.

The 61-year-old television presenter welcomed Jack to the studio to chat about his new book.

He published his first novel Jack’s Secret Summer last year and recently released Jack’s Secret World.

Some fans were distracted from the conversation about the book as the noticed how much he reminded them of 45-year-old sporting star and model Beckham.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Jack’s got a look of Beckham.”

“If David Beckham ever did a film about his life Jack could play him,” another added.

A third person posted: “Thanks @lorraine for confirming that I still fancy the pants off older Jack Ryder.”

Jack looked almost unrecognisable as he appeared on Lorraine almost two decades after his Walford character Jamie Mitchell was killed off.

The 39-year-old TV star became a father during lockdown and welcomed daughter Marnie with partner Ella.

Speaking candidly about fatherhood, Jack said: “”She’s doing great, parenting is a mixed bag – as soon as you think you’ve nailed it something happens.

“But we’re absolutely relishing being parents.”

The soap star also reflected on his heartthrob fame, with the hunk becoming a poster boy at 17 when he joined EastEnders in 1998.

Phil Mitchell’s nephew Jamie was a fan favourite until he was tragically killed off in 2002.

Jack admitted: “The fame side was tough to cope with at that time and at that age, but I just kept my head down and got on with the work.”

The TV personality also revealed is still in touch with many of his former EastEnders co-stars including Dean Gaffney and Natalie Cassidy.

He went on to add he recently bumped into Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell who immediately recognised him.

The former soap hunk added: “We are all loosely in touch, we have a lot of fun memories together.”
