EastEnders star Max Bowden, who is best known for playing Ben Mitchell in the soap, has split from his long-term girlfriend Danielle McCarney.
The news comes after it was revealed that co-star Jessie Wallace left a sexually-explicit message on his Instagram post four weeks ago.
Max, 26, decided to call an end to the relationship with his former girlfriend after two years together but it is believed the decision was amicable.
Fans of the star speculated that something could be going on between him and Jessie after she wrote a message on his Instagram post which seriously raised some eyebrows.
Commenting on Max’s throwback picture at the 2020 NTAs, Jessie penned: “Remember… if you need a m***e to cry on… I’m your gal.”
Fans were quick to notice Jessie’s suggestive comments and replied under the original post.
Laughing at the comment, one fan penned: “Supportive m***e. I’m definitely using this as a pick up line. Cheers Jess.”
While another shocked fan said: “Omg,” followed by crying laughing emojis.
Since then, friends of the star spoke to MailOnline and explained that Jessie’s comments were light hearted and the pair are only friends.
They also said Danielle was still with Max at the time when Jessie made her comments and the actress’ remarks has nothing to do with the couple’s spilt.
A source close to the EastEnders actor also spoke to the publication and said: “Max and Danielle’s split had been on the cards for a while.
“The relationship was a whirlwind at the start but ran into trouble a few months ago. They tried to make it work but they decided to remain friends. Nobody else was involved.
The source added: “Max is still very fond of Danielle and he’s gutted it didn’t work out. The consolation is at least they parted on good terms.”
Max and Danielle first met when she previously worked as a runner on EastEnders between April 2019 and March 2020.
At the moment, Danielle is working as a runner on ITV’s afternoon talk show Loose Women.
Before the couple parted ways, EastEnders star Max would often post adoring messages about his girlfriend on social media.
It is also believed the couple had moved in together, according to reports.
Although things were going well for the pair, it appears as though the couple had experienced a tough few months.
