Eminem’s child has come out as non-binary and now goes by their new name Stevie Laine.
The 19-year-old was flooded with support on their social media accounts after they shared the news on Thursday, and it’s fair to say they have been embraced by their family and their fans.
The rapper, 48, legally adopted the peroxide blonde teen, who was formally known as Whitney, back in 2005 after he made up with Stevie’s mum Kim Scott.
The TikTok star revealed their true identity on Instagram shortly after they flaunted their new hair do online.
In one social media post, they wrote: “call me stevie (they/she/he)” which was liked by their sister Hailie Jade, which is Eminem’s biological daughter with his ex-wife Kim.
They also posted a transformation video which highlighted their progression over the years, with the words: “Watch me become more comfortable with myself” and “forever growing and changing” written atop the video.
They also included the hashtags #genderfluid #bi and #nonbinary throughout their posts online to further establish their new identity online.
Fans soon flooded Stevie’s social media accounts with an overwhelming wave of positivity as supporters shared their support for their coming-of-age moment.
One user wrote: “Welcome back beautiful we missed you,” while another added: “SO PROUD OF YOU STEVIE WE LOVE YOU.”
The teen’s new name was also referenced in their grandmother Kathleen Sluck’s obituary last month before the star had revealed the news to their fans.
It read: “Kathleen was an exceptional mom to her two daughters; Kim and Dawn; and was overjoyed to become a grandmother to her grandchildren; Alaina, Adam, Hailie, Stevie, P.J., and Parker.”
Stevie’s biological father is Kim’s ex-boyfriend Eric Hartter who she briefly dated, but loving step-dad Eminem decided to take their relationship to the next step and officially adopt her after he got back together with his ex-wife.
The on-again off-again couple have had a rocky relationship over the years but romance first sparked between the pair when they met in the late 90s.
And the pair swiftly moved through their electric relationship when they tied the knot in 1999, but it wasn’t meant to last as the pair divorced just two years into their marriage.
Stevie’s biological father, who was a professional tattoo artist, had a several run-ins with the law and was in and out of prison throughout his relationship with Stevie, but unfortunately passed away at the age of 40 last year.
