Emmerdale fans have been left disgusted after Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) finally explained why she’s been trolling poor April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan).
Young April has been hounded by cruel trolls and in Tuesday night’s episode came home from school early because of it, even making herself sick.
And Cathy, who has been trying to get April to fight back against the trolls despite starting it all herself, got upset as she realised she might soon get caught out.
She spoke to her twin brother Heath (Sebastian Dowling) about it, and he was gobsmacked to learn what his sister had been doing.
And fans were just as unhappy too, rushing to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One said: “You vicious cow Cathy.”
Another tweeted: “Cathy obviously jealous of poor April, her own niece.”
A third wrote: “Cathy has all the makings of a psychopath. The village of the damned.”
Someone else said: “Are we supposed to be feeling sorry for Cathy?”
And another added: “Cathy in Emmerdale is a million times worse than Kelly in Corrie.”
Cathy said to Heath: “The bullying against April, it’s all got out of hand and now she’s crying her eyes out and throwing up.”
She admitted: “I started it… the trolling.
“Everyone thinks she’s so brilliant and dad’s going on about how great she is and how we’ve got to be nice to her because she’s just lost her mum.
“We lost our mum too – why doesn’t anybody care about that?”
She went on: “Donna was our sister. She didn’t just belong to April.”
Heath asked what Cathy was hoping would happen, but she didn’t have an answer.
She said: “I don’t know what I wanted. I didn’t think it’d end up like this. What have I done?”
Cathy and Heath’s mum was classic character Viv Hope, played by Deena Payne, who died 10 years ago in January 2011.
Their half-sister was Donna Windsor (Verity Rushworth), April’s mum, who died in 2014.
