Emmerdale fans gobsmacked as twins Cathy and Heath look different after return

Emmerdale twins Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) and Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) made a shock return to our screens this week and quickly caused trouble for Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell).

The real-life siblings looked unrecognisable as they appeared on the ITV soap for the first time in months due to the coronavirus rules stopping young actors from filming during the pandemic.

Viewers at home rushed to their social media to share their disbelief as they spotted Cathy and Heath back on their screens.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Those twins are so grown up, Cathy especially.”

Another added: “So Bob’s kids have appeared practically grown up.”

A third person posted: “I honestly had no clue that they were Bob’s twins in the cafe. They’ve grown up so fast!”

While a fourth viewer wrote: “So Bob’s kids have appeared practically grown up.”

Sebastian Dowling has played Heath and Gabrielle Dowling has portrayed the role of Cathy since 2007.

The mischievous twins have been secretly recording Eric, pranking him in a series of cruel videos in the hopes of going viral.

The pensioner snapped and smashed Cathy’s phone in a moment of fury during Friday’s episode, leaving the brother and sister to run crying to Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop).

It all kicked off when the twins appeared in the shop, quizzing Eric about treasured antique.

With their camera phone set to record, they replaced Eric’s specialist spray with a noxious substance, leaving him panicking over the damage it might have caused to the antique.

Cathy then wandered over to the ornament, picking it up and making fun of it before disaster struck.

Dropping it to the floor, when the porcelain shattered, Cathy brushed off Eric’s devastation and suggested he glue it back together.

His face going red with rage, Eric turned to Cathy’s phone, picked it up, and hurled it to the floor, watching the glass crack.

The twins claimed the attack was unprovoked, but many fans are hopeful Eric will show Brenda the CCTV, proving the twins had antagonised him.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “Emmerdale surely Eric would use the cctv in the shop to show what the chucky twins did.”

“Eric… CCTV footage from the shop. Show Brenda what little horrors Cathy and Heath are being,” wrote a second.

And a third chimed: “Eric’s no fool. he gonna set up some CCTV or something he ain’t daft that ole g*t lol.”

“Doesn’t the shop have CCTV,” wondered a fourth.

Could the Cathy and Heath’s lies be enough to end Brenda and Eric’s relationship?

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra helping on Thursdays at 8pm
