Emmerdale star Reece Dinsdale's sweet tribute post after Paul's dramatic demise

Emmerdale star Reece Dinsdale has paid a sweet tribute to his co-star and on-screen partner, Lisa Riley.

Reece’s character Paul met his end during last night’s episode as he as Mandy (Lisa) prepared to walk down the aisle.

But it wouldn’t be a soap wedding without a huge twist on the big day, Jimmy (Nick Miles) crashing into the barn where the couple were tying the knot.

Gas canisters exploded after the collision, injuring Jimmy and Liv.

Paul was rushed to hospital – but went into cardiac arrest and died in heartbreaking scenes.

Now Mandy star Lisa has addressed Reece’s exit, thanking her co-star for “the most brilliant time” and for providing “loads of fun and laughter” on set.

Reece has since retweeted the message with a sweet note of his own.

The actor penned: “Just seen this. Thank you so much, Lisa.

“You made me so welcome from the word go and made me laugh and cry for a whole year.

“I think the world of you. You are one extraordinarily kind and talented human being.

“Proud to know you. x.”

But despite their kind words, Reece and Lisa will still be working together, as he resumes his role as a director on the soap.

“I was actually directing on Emmerdale when I was asked, right out of the blue, if I would like to play Paul,” he explained.

“I’m delighted to announce, therefore, that I shall begin directing once again on the show in a couple of weeks time. I’m the cat that got the cream.”

It’s not the first time he’s died in a soap – Corrie character Joe McIntyre drowned back in 2010.

“It has been hugely difficult doing scores of interviews with press, TV and radio for the past month whilst trying not to let the cat out of the bag. Phew,” he laughed.

“I thought it might be difficult to top my exit from Corrie where I drowned in Lake Windermere… but maybe we did. I’d say far better than leaving in a taxi.”

And revealing how the pulled off the dramatic crash sequence, Reece added: “It was painstaking, both in its attention to detail and safety and also adhering to Covid rules at all times.

“But it was great fun though, too. More than your average day at the office.”
