Emmerdale viewers are convinced Joe Tate, who hasn’t been seen in the village in years, might be the one secretly drugging Kim.
Kim, played by Claire King, recently discovered her liquor was being spiked with Diazepam, a drug used to treat anxiety, alcohol withdrawal, and seizures.
The identity of her poisoner has yet to be exposed, but Kim and her son Jamie Tate are determined to get revenge for the twisted poisoning.
So far, everyone is a suspect, with doubts cast upon Kim’s boyfriend Will Taylor, his daughter Dawn, businessman Al Chapman and even Jamie.
Watching this week’s episodes play out, certain fans are wondering whether the culprit might be a person from Kim’s past, returning to wreak havoc in the village.
Taking to Twitter, they speculated over whether the handsome Joe Tate might be secretly hiding in Home Farm, administering the medicine from the shadows.
” #emmerdale I still think Kim Tate’s ex-lover Steve or Joe Tate for revenge,” wrote one fan.
A second agreed: “So, Joe Tate or Steve Marchant…We’re happy with either.”
” I still think Joe Tate or Harriet,” weighed in a third, while a fourth comment, featured in Inside Soap magazine, read: “My money’s on Joe Tate! Isn’t it about time he returned to the village?”
Joe, played by Ned Porteous, was last since in the Dales in 2018, when Kim – fresh out of prison at the time – put a bounty on his head, ordering his murder.
It was initially thought he had been killed off when he fell and hit his head on a rock during a fight with Cain Dingle.
Kim’s minion, Graham Foster, then stuffed him into the boot of his car, only for Joe’s hand to start to twitch – signalling he was alive.
Graham told Kim her step-grandson had been taken care of, while Joe fled the village to go and travel the world.
Joe has spent the last few years living abroad, enjoying a life of luxury in Monte Carlo and beyond, leeching off Kim’s money.
Has Joe decided to ditch the high-life for a return to the village?
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra helping on Thursdays at 8pm.
