Ex Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll suffers heart attack and ‘not out of the woods yet’

Oasis star Tony McCarroll has revealed that he was hospitalised last week after suffering a heart attack.

The original drummer of the Manchester-based band, fronted by Noel and Liam Gallagher left the group in 1995 and was later replaced by Alan White.

Now, the 50-year-old has revealed that while he suffered a major health scare last week.

In a tweet to his 22,100 followers, he penned: “Hi All. Wanted to let you know I was admitted to hospital on Thursday after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday night.

“I’m not quite out of the woods as yet but just want to give a massive big up to our #NHS We are more than fortunate to have such a service! Thank you!!”

Tony was instantly flooded with messages of best wishes from his dedicated followers on the micro-blogging site.

“Get well soon mate,” penned one alongside a praying emoji.

While a second added: “I hope your feeling okay Tony luv. I’m glad your in hospital getting the treatment you need. I’m sure you will be well looked after. You’ll be back doing everything you love soon enough. In the meantime take it easy + eat your bodyweight in grapes! [sic].”

“Hey Tony, so relieved to hear from you. You had us all going for a moment when the ambulance took you to hospital – you seemed so calm though! Take your time, take it easy and just get yourself better – take care and get well soon. Thank goodness for the #NHS,” said a third.

“Take care Tony, do as you’re told and get well soon. You’ll be in the system now so they can properly look after you,” tweeted a fourth.

Tony previously revealed that after being axed from the chart-topping band, he spent three years getting drunk.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News in 2019, he recalled meeting rockstar Liam Gallagher for the first time in 20 years after being invited to the same party.

“We were all drunk and I just thought f*** it, I’ll take the bull by the horns,” he told the publication.

Tony added: “I basically walked straight in and said to someone ‘where’s Liam?’ Marched straight up to him and said ‘oi’.”

Discussing life after the band Tony explained: “I lived in the States, Tenerife.

“Really I got drunk for three whole years.”

He continued: “If you’re asking when I got back to normality… maybe I’m not normal. You’re reminded every single f***ing day of Oasis.

“On the radio, one of your mates, someone you work with. I’ll never get away from being the original Oasis drummer and that’s something I’ve got to take on the chin.”
