G-Eazy's mother dies as rapper pays touching tribute to his 'queen, hero and everything'

G-Eazy has taken to social media to share the sad news that his mother Suzanne has died.

The US rapper made the heartbreaking announcement on Wednesday as he shared a collection of photographs of his mother on Instagram.

Alongside the collection of images, He penned: “I love you so much. The shock still won’t let me accept the feeling that I’ll never get to hug you in person again. My queen, my hero my everything…my mom.”

“The tears won’t stop. My eyes hurt, my face hurts, my body hurts, everywhere hurts. There’s no safe place to hide and there’s no way to lay, sit or stand that doesn’t hurt. The pain is enormous. But I know you’re out of yours and that brings me peace.”

The emotional caption went on to describe his admiration for his mother, speaking about the pain she endured and the suffering she went through.

He ended the caption with: “You loved your boys more than life itself and we love you the same. Luckily we have each other to hold and to lean on and that’s all that matters.”

“Our hearts are broken, but they are full of love and gratitude for the life you gave us. With us always…we love you mom.”

Musician G-Eazy, real name Gerald Earl Gillum, also posted a video of a voice note his late mother had left him.

She said: “Hey Gerald, I just want to leave a message and repeat just how proud I am of you.

You have risen to the peaks of behaviour and creativity and this is just the beginning Gerald. This is going to be your life by the sounds of things.”

Suzanne Olmsted played a huge part in the rapper’s life, often attending his shows and encouraging him to go to rehab.

In the Instagram post G-Eazy said: “As deeply as I was worried about you and your physical health, I didn’t realise the extent of just how worried you were about me until you sent me the hardest letter I’ve ever had to read…going into treatment for alcohol and drugs was my decision but your letter was what ultimately persuaded me.”

G-Eazy has a close bond with his mother

G-Eazy also shared the Instagram post to his story, which included a black and white picture of his mother posing with a serene expression in a field.

The two were close and the rapper FaceTimed his mother on stage at BottleRock festival in September as she was unable to attend.

His mother, a visual artist, raised him and his younger brother in Oakland and exposed him to classical musical from early on in his life.

She spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle in 2017 about how she raised him: “I loved him. I always believed it was important to listen to him. Gerald was such a bundle of energy and focus from such an early age, it was wonderful.

“As an artist, to be a part of it, to realise I had this intensely creative son, I felt an obligation to be supportive.”

She had a deep connection to music, and used it to fuel her son’s creativity.
