GMB descends into chaos as technical issue halts chat with Team GB olympian

Good Morning Britain didn’t get off to the best start on Monday as a technical issue halted an interview with Team GB silver medalist Bradly Sinden.

Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid kicked off the ITV breakfast show by introducing the olympian, who appeared via a video link from Tokyo.

Bradly couldn’t hear Ben and Susanna right from the beginning and was forced to end the interview before asking the first question.

The presenting duo informed viewers that they’ll try their best to resolve the technical issues and they’ll hopefully speak to the sports star before the end of the latest programme.

Team GB’s Bradly Sinden settled for silver medal on his Olympic debut in men’s -68kg taekwondo after losing out in final against Uzbekistan’s Ulugbek Rashitov.

Susanna did not attend the London ceremony in person but was thrilled to hear the daytime show had been given the crown for Best Talk Show.

On the awards’ official Twitter account page, a celebratory post read: “Congratulations to @GMB on winning Best Talk Show at the 10th National Reality TV Awards #NRTA2021.”

Susanna, who was extremely pleased about the win, quoted the tweet, sharing: “Congratulations to everyone @gmb for this – including @piersmorgan obvs – as viewers voted us Best Talk Show.

Fans of the show quickly took to the comments to celebrate GMB’s win, but some pointed out how Piers was such a big personality that the daytime show “won’t win again” after his shock exit in March.

“Won’t be winning that next year without Piers,” one person shared.

“Well done. No disrespect to any of the other presenters but Piers is huge part of why you won this award,” a second penned.

A third added: “Just a shame Piers isn’t there anymore, probably never win again.”

Piers, 56, quit his role on the ITV breakfast four months ago following a heated on air discussion with Alex Beresford regarding his comments about Meghan Markle.

The former journalist was very vocal about Meghan and Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year, and accused the US actress of lying.

On March 9, Piers announced he had quit GMB and Ofcom launched an investigation into the remarks Piers made about the Duchess of Sussex’s mental health after receiving 41,015 complaints.

The regulator confirmed days later that mum-of-two Meghan herself had complained as well. She also complained directly to ITV’s CEO about his comments.

Elsewhere during the ceremony, Susanna bagged herself an award for Celebrity Personality Of The Year 2021.
