GMB viewers said Kate Garraway was “morphing into Piers Morgan” after conducting a fiery live TV interview with Alex Salmond.
The controversial politician appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning to discuss his dream of Scottish independence.
Alex, 66, hopes to create a so-called ‘super majority’ in Holyrood to take Scotland out of the United Kingdom with his new party and his rival Nicola Sturgeon’s SNP.
During the interview, Kate, 53, repeatedly grilled Alex Salmond on his former conduct – claiming the public doesn’t think he is the right man for the job.
Not stopping there, Derek Draper’s wife also questioned if he could even do a deal with Sturgeon after an explosive showdown with her last month.
At multiple points during the live TV interview, Salmond called out Kate for “interrupting him” and not letting him finish answering the question.
Kate’s strong performance saw her likened to her former co-star Piers.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Garraway trying to take piers Morgan’s role, it’s not really working Kate #GMB.”
Another added: “GMB just gives me a headache. Shouting over each other during “interviews”, more like an early morning Jeremy Kyle show.”
A third moaned: “Kate you’re not Piers Morgan let other people speak.”
A fourth chimed in: “Kate hasn’t learned that she is not Piers and comes across as just interrupting for effect, whereas Piers had conviction about why he was interrupting.”
While some may wish Kate toned down her brutal questions, the star has won over the heart of the nation after seeing exactly what she’s had to cope with for the past 12 months.
The brave TV host candidly opened up about her husband’s ongoing battle with Covid in ITV documentary Kate Garraway: Finding Derek.
Derek was hospitalised with Covid in March 2020 before being placed into a medically induced coma to help him fight the virus.
While he is now thankfully Covid free, the virus has had devastating effects on his organs.
It’s now thought that when he eventually is able to returned home Derek will be wheelchair bound.
Viewers were left amazed by the strength Kate has shown by continuing to work on GMB, focus on Derek’s recovery and look after their two children.
Keen to make sure everything is ready for him to come home as soon as possible, Kate has renovated her home to allow for wheelchair access.
