Good Morning Britain viewers were left feeling rather unimpressed on Friday, as they accused the programme of scaring the public regarding the UKS’ petrol shortages.
Presenter Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard were on hand to explain the fuel crisis that is slowly sweeping across the UK due to the lack of HGV drivers.
But although most viewers soaked in the information, several others were left feeling annoyed with the emphasis on the topic and accused the programme of scaremongering especially because only a few petrol stations had been effected.
Taking to Twitter, spectators aired their thoughts.
One fan said: “First of all why are GMB scaremongering? And secondly, surely there’s other things to talk about than just this petrol ‘crisis’?”
Another viewer penned: “No the problem is you telling everyone there is a shortage of petrol!”
A third unimpressed viewer chimed in and commented: “There won’t be any fuel shortages or bulk buying if everyone stops listening to the media!! Don’t be taken in by them.”
While a fourth tweeted: “Britain running on empty’ is a grossly irresponsible headline. There’s plenty of fuel, but a disruption to supplying it because of driver shortages.”
Viewers were left confused once again, when they interviewed petrol station owner Paul Cheema on the crisis who clearly told viewers that there was no need to panic.
But the presenters certainly ramped up the heat once again on the subject matter when they interviewed the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps.
Grant appeared on the programme via video link to discuss why Britain had such as shortage of drivers.
But as the presenters shared their concerns on the situation with the secretary, they got into quite a heated debate which lead broadcaster Kate to shout that he wasn’t answering her question regarding shortages.
Taking to Twitter again, viewers aired their thoughts.
One fan penned: “All these presenters do try to grill these politicians like Morgan used to, never works.”
Meanwhile another said: “@grantshapps you are the perfect example of everything that is wrong with our government: patronising yet still unable to answer the question plus no idea what the person on the street is thinking.”
