GMB turns awkward as Ranvir Singh 'avoids eye contact' with Charlotte Hawkins

Things got rather awkward quite quickly on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, after presenter Ranvir Singh told her co-host Charlotte Hawkins she will “avoid eye contact” with her for the remainder of the show.

While the broadcasters discussed the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games and the medals that Great Britain have won, Charlotte turned to Ranvir to ask her if she knew the amount was.

But she received a fairly uncomfortable response from her colleague.

Charlotte, 46, asked: “Who do you think now that we are one gold, six silver and one bronze.”

Ranvir, 44, replied: “You’re looking at me as if I know that.”

Ranvir said she would avoid eye contact with Charlotte

She added: “I’m going to avoid eye contact with Charlotte for the rest of the show,” she joked.

Taken aback by Ranvir’s admission, Charlotte said: “I think that’s what we’re at and that’s why I posed it and asked it to you.”

Viewers seemed to also notice Charlotte and Ranvir’s awkward communication and poor interviewing techniques yet again on Thursday morning’s programme.

Charlotte quizzed Ranvir on her medal knowledge

Taking to Twitter, viewers aired their disappointment.

One fan said: “God Charlotte and Ranvir are simply awful.”

While another penned: “Ranvir and Charlotte in charge. Good Jesus. Up s*** creek without a paddle comes to mind.”

A third angrily viewer chimed: “Ranvir Singh should be arrested for impersonating a presenter the woman is atrocious.”

Viewers have noticed the pair’s awkward exchanges

Since former GMB presenter Piers Morgan departed from the breakfast show in March, the ITV programme has had various presenters take the reins.

Weatherman Alex Beresford and broadcaster Richard Madeley are two of the newer presenters that have had a chance to sit in the hot seat alongside regular host Susanna Reid.

But despite the changes, some viewers are still longing for Piers’ return and suspect that it may be end for the morning programme.

One GMB fan penned: “The beginning of the end. They’re looking to reshape the show and pull the plug on the current format, presenters etc. Viewers started dropping as they became woke and further after Piers Morgan left. ITV are panicking and are mixing things before the end of the year.”
