GMB viewers call for Richard Bacon to be Piers Morgan's permanent replacement

Piers Morgan left big shoes to fill on Good Morning Britain but viewers loved Richard Bacon as he made his debut on Wednesday morning and are hoping he’ll be a permanent addition.

Richard, 45, has been spending time over in America doing “a silly job” and was excited to be on the show.

He explained: “I haven’t done this for a couple of years, I live in America now where I have a slightly silly job, basically, inventing game shows and producing game shows which is a strange thing to do in the world.”

The star said being on GMB felt like a ‘welcome home’ and talked about his love of news and current affairs.

One fan asked: “Yay, love Richard Bacon, can we have him full time please?”

“Richard Bacon is very good, GMB! Try and keep him” added another.

“Have to say I thought Richard Bacon was impressive in his questioning and manner” said one.

“Good to see calm being restored on GMB this morning thanks to Richard B. The dynamic between Kate and Charlotte doesn’t work, they are constantly trying to outdo each other resulting in shouting.”

Fans say he’s a “breath of fresh air”

One added: “So brilliant, he is so good on this show, please can he be full time? Good to see him back.”

“Thank god! Love Richard Bacon. Please make him permanent.”

“Great to see Richard Bacon, a breath of fresh air after Piers and Richard Madeley” raved one.

Richard was so pleased to be on the show, and Charlotte said he chose “quite the week” to be presenting.

He added: “Richard Arnold just said “Welcome home” to me before out in the corridor. I was quite touched, it was quite sweet. It’s great to be here. It’s very exciting.”

“To actually come back and do this, you know, my first love is news and current affairs and to actually come back and talk about things that matter,” exclaimed Richard.

He also gave a shout out to his mum as he said she’s a “huge fan” of GMB, but joked that she “prefers Richard Madeley.”
