Adil Ray has apparently made a dig against Piers Morgan, highlighting the ex-presenter’s famously outspoken nature on Good Morning Britain.
The host, who appeared on the show alongside Susanna Reid, made reference to a certain “former presenter” during a debate on Thursday.
Adil made the remark while discussing the leaked Whatsapp messages which allege to be private messages between Dominic Cummings and the Prime Minister.
In the messages, Boris Johnson allegedly described Health Secretary Matt Hancock as “f*****g hopeless”.
Debating tensions between politicians, guest Jeffrey Archer turned to Adil and Susanna and quipped: “You think you two haven’t had a row on this programme occasionally?”
Comparing himself to the ex-GMB host in a thinly-veiled dig, Adil then swiftly pointed out he gets on very well with his co-stars.
“Actually, we haven’t,” Adil said. “I think you’re confusing me with a former presenter.”
Piers stepped down from his role on GMB on March 9, amid a backlash to his coverage of Meghan Markle’s groundbreaking interview with Oprah Winfrey.
During his final episode, Piers stormed off set when his colleague, meteorologist Alex Beresford, challenged him over his treatment of the Duchess of Sussex.
After an unexpected ad break, Piers returned minutes later and they appeared to patch up any tensions in the studio.
Since Piers’ exit, Susanna – who has been central to GMB from its 2014 inception – has been the sole lead anchor on the show, hosting from Monday to Thursday.
Piers’ seat has been filled by a rotation of presenters, with the likes of Adil, Ben Shephard, Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh hosting by Susanna’s side.
The broadcaster has since claimed ITV has invited him back on the show, but he has yet to take them up on their offer.
“They reached out – there have been approaches,” he told The Sun.

“Never say never. I have no doubt I could take the ratings back to where I left them – but the doubt is, would anyone be allowed to do it that way again?
“I was hired to give very strong, honestly held opinions, which I did.
“But in the end I was asked to apologise for a genuinely held opinion.”
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
