GMB's Adil Ray's barbed Piers Morgan dig over latest brutal Meghan Markle attack

Adil Ray jumped to the defence of Meghan Markle – and appeared to have a poke at former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan in the process.

It has been announced that the Duchess of Sussex has written a children’s book, which is about the relationship between fathers and sons.

Piers didn’t take long to put his thoughts down on paper and he quickly mocked her idea in his latest Mail on Sunday column.

And Adil appeared to make a bit of an awkward dig at the former GMB star this morning.

Asked about his opinion on Meghan writing a book, Adil said: “I think it’s great. I think it’s interesting.

“I think it’s a great story. I think it’s a great idea about the father and son relationship. Often when we think about children’s books we think about the mother and daughter. In these times, it’s quite interesting.

“It’s clearly going to be personal with her relationship with her own son and Harry. I think it’s fantastic, I think it’s positive. I think it’s a great thing. I think she’s done really well. What’s more to say about it?”

Co-star Susanna Reid then became involved in the debate.

She chimed in: “Absolutely right!”

Sean Fletcher then pointed out: “You’re flabbergasted to have someone here who praises Meghan Markle’s book. You’re speechless, aren’t you Susanna?”

She then brought up that Prince Charles had released a children’s book “back in the day”.

Adil said: “It suddenly becomes a bit contentious because it’s Meghan Markle, for some reason.

“I can’t quite put my finger on why that might be.”

Piers warned in his Daily Mail column that the “tone-deaf” former actress won’t have a best seller on her hands.

He wrote: “I don’t wish to rain on the comically sycophantic parade, but I suspect this book will become an instant historical classic for all the wrong reasons.

“The whole notion of Meghan Markle dishing out advice to anyone about the relationship between fathers and children is absolutely ridiculous given the appalling relationships she and her husband have with their own fathers.

“I’d honestly rather hear parenting tips from Britney Spears’s god-awful father because at least they still talk to each other.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV
