GMB's Kate Garraway shares pic of painful swollen eye after finally going to hospital

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has shared a painful-looking picture of her half-closed, swollen left eye.

Laid out on the couch after a much-needed trip to the doctor, still wearing a jacket and face mask, the 54-year-old captioned the post perfectly.

“Ouch,” she wrote.

The mum-of-two added: “But thanks to the brilliant @nhs team @moorfieldsuae not permanent. Inflamed cornea caused probably by wearing my contacts for too long on some very long days recently. Hence the glasses on @gmb on Friday.”

Mentioning her husband Derek Draper, she went on to say: “And to think I nearly didn’t get it checked out as was wanting to get back home to do some physio with Derek.”

Kate spends a lot of time caring for Derek since he returned home from a year-long stay in hospital fighting an unusually serious case of long Covid.

The former political advisor and lobbyist left hospital this summer after making some progress, but despite now being at home with his wife and kids, he remains severely incapacitated.

Kate has previously said she really misses the way her hubby was and would do anything to have the old Derek back.

Kate continued to write: “A further reminder if you are a carer, parent or anyone really you have to sometimes put yourself first otherwise you are no use to anyone you are trying to help.”

The Berkshire-born TV star rounded off her post with her doctor’s orders and happy weekend wishes.

“48 hours of putting drops in every hour day and night and I will be back on track. Hope everyone is having a lovely #sunday.”

Followed by a string of fans, Kate’s famous friends soon swooped into the comments.

Former Hear’Say band member Myleene Klass was one of the first to pass on her well wishes, penning: “Oh Kate. You are an absolute Trojan. Feel better soon. X.”

Fellow Good Morning Britain presenter Adil Ray joined in to declare a “big love you”.

And former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton added: “Get better soon Kate.”
