GMB's Susanna Reid announces she's taking 'well-deserved' break from the show

Susanna Reid will be missing from the Good Morning Britain studios over the coming days, as the host explained she will be taking a “little break”.

The 50-year-old has been holding fort on GMB since Piers Morgan’s high-profile exit earlier this month, acting as the solo lead anchor on the show.

Now, Susanna is taking some “well-deserved” time off, enjoying some quality time with her family over the Easter break.

Her co-host Ranvir Singh confirmed the news on Wednesday’s show, turning to Susanna in the closing minutes of GMB.

“You’re off tomorrow,” Ranvir remarked.

Ranvir admitted Susanna seriously “deserved” some time off work

“I’m off for a little break over Easter,” Susanna confirmed, clearly looking forward to some relaxation after a hectic month in the studio.

Ranvir admitted Susanna was overdue a break, adding: “A well-deserved one!”

Piers stepped down from his role on GMB on March 9, following backlash to comments he had made about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The day previous, Piers had said he didn’t believe a “word” Meghan said during her groundbreaking interview with Oprah Winfrey, sparking an Ofcom investigation.

In the weeks that followed, there has been much speculation over which presenter will fill his shoes in the GMB studio, with names like Ben Shephard and Rob Rinder getting thrown into the mix.

However, ITV bosses are now considering keeping Susanna as the sole lead anchor, according to reports.

This would mean inviting a rotation of presenters to co-host, with the likes of Ben, Ranvir and Adil Ray stepping up to the plate.

A source told The Sun: “Piers’ sudden departure has, of course, put a rocket up everyone.

“But what ITV needs now, more than ever, are calm heads and someone to steady the ship.

“Susanna has proven herself a consummate broadcaster for the past ten years — and clearly has the star factor.”

Daily Star has approached ITV for comment.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
