Gogglebox fans were left outraged on Friday evening as they spotted Giles Woods’ “dirty” chair on camera.
The Channel 4 favourite was missing from the start of the show but could be heard playing the piano off camera.
However, viewers were distracted from Giles’ performance for his wife Mary Killen after spotting the condition of his empty chair.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “OMG Giles’ chair is filthy.”
Another moaned: “Giles! Clean that disgusting chair!!”
A third person posted: “Giles and Mary need new chairs.”
“Ugh!! The f**king state of Giles’ chair!!!,” a fourth viewer raged, and a fifth social media user said: “How dirty is Giles chair?”
Mary complimented her husband’s piano playing skills but Giles later admitted that he “couldn’t remember how the rest goes”.
Giles, Mary and the rest of the cast offered their honest views on This Morning, CBeebies Bedtime Stories and a whole host of other shows during the latest edition of Gogglebox.
Giles and Mary have become firm favourites with viewers of the show thanks to their bickering and hilarious one-liners, not to mention their matching sofa and wallpaper.
The eccentric couple met at the age of 21 when Mary was a model and Giles was studying at Wimbledon Art School.
Now Giles spends his time creating art and contributing to the online magazine The Oldie.
Mary is an agony aunt for the online magazine The Spectator and wrote an etiquette book called How the Queen Can Make You Happy which was published in 2012.
Their age has not been revealed on the show, but they met when they were 21 and have been married for more than 30 years.
They joined Gogglebox for the fifth series back in 2015 and have been show favourites ever since.
Talking about being on the show, Mary said: “Since being on Gogglebox, our marriage has improved because we have time to talk to each other.
“Previously, I would get up at five or six and he’d get up at 10.
“At one o’clock, he would just be having breakfast. We didn’t overlap much. We’d have one waking hour in each other’s company.”
As a part of the show, Giles and Mary have to commit to 12 hours of filming each week split across two six-hour shifts.
Gogglebox airs Fridays on Channel 4 at 9pm
