Gogglebox's Tom Malone emotional as he admits one thing he misses most about show

With their quick wit, large family dogs, and selection of snacks on the table, Gogglebox’s Malone family are instantly recognisable.

Now Tom Malone Jr., who left after six years to pursue other opportunities, has reflected on his time on the show.

Despite Tom Jr. quitting, his parents still appear on Gogglebox to cheer up the nation when it airs each week.

Tom, who has partnered with Malibu for its new festive fashion range, told Digital Spy what he misses most about being on Channel 4’s Friday night favourite.

“It was nice to sit down with my family and just watch TV,” he said.

“When you move out as an adult you don’t the time to do the simple things like that often and Gogglebox gave us a reason to keep doing it.”

He added that he loved getting free takeaways when the family were filming, saying: “That was the best part of the show hands down.”

Tom added that being on the show gave him a new appreciation for the TV industry.

Tom Jr roped in his dad Tom Sr on TikTok

“Once you realise how much goes into filming a TV show it makes you appreciate how hard all the people behind the scenes work to make these shows happen,” he explained.

“The finished product that we see is just the tip of the iceberg.”

Tom’s parents – lorry driver dad Tom Sr. and former receptionist Julie – are still on the show, alongside Tom’s Manchester United coach brother Shaun and their sister Vanessa.

Meanwhile, Gogglebox friends Jenny Newby and Lee Riley have assured viewers that they’re not leaving the show following a mix up.

Jenny and Lee – who appear on the show from Jenny’s static caravan in Hull – set the record straight after Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley mistakenly claimed they were leaving.

After the broadcast one concerned fan tweeted the duo, who replied: “Well Jo is totally wrong”.

Jo subsequently apologised for the slip-up, tweeting:

“I am SOOOO sorry!!! I completely thought I’d read you were leaving, I’m sure I did! Maybe I dreamt it,” adding that she was “really happy to hear” they were staying.

Best pals Jenny and Lee have been staples of the show for years – and they’d definitely be missed by fans if they ever do decide to quit.
