Holly Willoughby devastated as she's forced to cancel boozy 40th birthday bash

This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby had planned to throw a huge birthday party for her 40th this week with all of her A-List friends in attendance.

The mum-of-three hits the big milestone on February 10 and was excited for a huge boozy celebration with all her friends, family and co-workers.

Unfortunately, due to the current lockdown as a result of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, Holly has been forced to rearrange the shindig and host it on Zoom instead.

The host couldn’t hide her disappointment as she spoke to her longtime friend and colleague Phillip Schofield about the change on Thursday’s This Morning.

Holly Willoughby admitted her disappointment over not having a 40th birthday bash on This Morning

During a segment called “How to celebrate your birthday in lockdown,” the star said: “It’s bittersweet as next week I’m celebrating my big 4-0 and tomorrow night would have been my big birthday party that I had to cancel!

“So it will look very different.”

Trying to keep a brave face over the realisation, Holly assured viewers: “But as long as I’ve got a cake and a glass in my hand I’ll be fine.”

“Here have a Wotsit Holly, it’ll be fine,” Phillip, 58, consoled.

Holly and Phil chatted about her upset over having to have a Zoom party

Despite the upset over her spoiled birthday plans, Holly can still expect to get showered with presents and cake in the ITV studio on her big day.

Holly will be hosting This Morning on her birthday, so Phil and the rest of the show’s team will likely pull out all the stops to show their beloved star how much she’s appreciated by the presenters and crew.

Speaking about her impending catch up with friends Emma Bunton, 45, Nicole Appleton, 46, Tamzin Outhwaite, 50 and her sister Kelly, 42, Holly said she was really “looking forward to it”.

“My thirties have been all about the kids, bringing them up, keeping all these balls in the air,” the Dancing On Ice host shared.

“But now they’re getting older I can start focusing on things happening for me.”

Phillip recently gushed over his co-star ahead of her big birthday and promised the pair will still be celebrating together on-air.

Calling Holly ”the sister I never had,” Phil continued: “We’ve laughed together and cried together and got helplessly drunk together.

“We’ve stood side by side (recently with a 2m gap) through good times and tough times,” he told OK! Magazine. “She is a constant support to me, built of steel and love.”
