Holly Willoughby's husband claimed up to £10k in furlough despite huge net worth

Holly Willoughby ’s media mogul husband used the Government’s furlough scheme to prop up one of his multi-million pound firms.

Producer Daniel Baldwin’s Hungry Bear Media – valued at around £2million – claimed up to £10,000 in state cash.

He got the taxpayers’ money in December last year, which he was entitled to do, according to figures.

Companies House accounts show it was one of many businesses to claim during the pandemic.

Dan and This Morning star Holly are thought to have a combined worth of around £13million.

He is also a director of her company Roxy Media Ltd, thought to be valued at around £10m.

Holly, 40, is believed to earn £600,000 a year from the ITV show.

She also presents Dancing On Ice, plus a new Saturday night show with Bradley Walsh called Take Off, and has brand partnerships.

The latest accounts for Roxy Media Ltd show she earned nearly £1.5m in 2019 and 2020.

Dan, 45, also runs Hungry McBear Ltd, based in Scotland, with comic Michael McIntyre.

It had £1.7m cash in the bank in 2019.

Latest figures for Hungry Bear filed in January show almost £1m cash and assets.

The TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Some businesses have repaid the support.

“They should serve as an example for firms that have come through the past year in rude health.”

Holly’s latest show Take Off didn’t go down amazingly well with viewers.

The show saw Holly and Bradley Walsh dishing out holidays to winners in the competition, which was filmed before the pandemic.

Viewers at home were left a little confused as the prizes included tickets to Hollywood and Las Vegas.

Currently, people from the UK can’t travel to the US – and there are plenty of restrictions when it comes to travelling to places less far away too.

“Quiz show to win a trip to the US when you can’t travel there, makes sense!” said one confused viewer.

Another joked: “When exactly will they be able to jet off, 2035?”
