Home and Away’s Martha Stewart (Belinda Goblin) has been struggling to cope since her troubled alcoholic son Kieran fled Summer Bay after being revealed as still drinking.
Martha has suffered with her mental health in the past, but it has escalated in recent weeks as she has begun suffering from hallucinations.
Next week, Irene realises that Martha is talking to thin air, and she is left seriously alarmed as Martha “introduces” her to Kieran.
Irene quickly tells Martha’s husband Alf and Roo that something is not right with her, and they jump into action.
They realise she needs an intervention and convince Martha that she needs professional help.
Martha agrees, but it seems that she doesn’t totally realise that Kieran isn’t really there, but it looks like the family’s troubles are far from over as the Stewarts struggle to cope.
Speaking to Daily Star, Belinda teased that Martha’s breakdown causes a lot of strain between her and Alf, saying: “She was settled down and happy with Alf and her daughter, but you can’t stay comfortable for too long on a soap, you need to bring the drama.
“Martha becomes emotional and very destabilised and Alf has to work hard to deal with her, she is going through a complete meltdown.”
She added: “Kieran’s arrival is like an explosion has happened, Martha goes into a total spin and her marriage and family gets turned upside down.
“It is sad and frightening, and a bit of a journey for the whole Stewart family.”

Ray Meagher, who plays Alf, has also teased that the pair could be about to hit a rocky patch after tying the knot last year, telling What’s on TV: “For a while after their marriage things were terrific,” insisted Ray.
“Then things get a bit bumpy!”
Martha has already threatened to leave Alf once after blaming him for Kieran’s sudden departure, telling him that if he couldn’t accept him, she would pack her bags and return to Merimbula.
She then packed her bags and went missing, before telling Irene that Alf and Roo were keeping her hostage.
Can Alf and Martha get their marriage back on track as she finally gets the help she needs?
Or could her mental health struggles prove to be too much to handle as Martha continues to push her husband away?
Meanwhile, Martha looks set to betray and deceive her husband as she tells him that she wants to turn an empty van in the caravan park into her art studio.
Alf happily agrees, but when Martha says she’s getting art supplies, she returns and lays out mens’ clothes on the bed, clearly intending for Kieran to stay.
She calls her son and leaves her a message, saying she has found a place where no one will find him, saying she will be waiting for him in the van.
Will Martha’s deception push Alf over the edge and make him realise she will always choose her son over him?
Home and Away continues on Monday at 2.15pm on Channel 5.
