Ian Wright banned from driving for 6 months after going way over 40 speed limit

Ian Wright has been banned from driving for six months after he drove through a 40 speed limit zone doing 69 miles per hour.

The Match of the Day football pundit was caught by speed cameras doing nearly 30mph over the speed limit.

The ex-footballer, who played for Arsenal for eight years in the 90s, was riding on his Triumph motorbike when he clocked in at 69mph.

While attending a hearing in a magistrates’ court, the 57-year-old admitted he’d been speeding and was ready to take the consequences of his actions.

The TV personality was fine £1,000 for his actions, and was given a six-month driving ban to reflect on his actions after having been caught speeding on more than one occasion.

Friends of the star said Ian was ready to take the punishment, and accepted what he’d done was wrong.

The footballer also turned up at court without a legal representative and responded to his punishment without counsel.

“Ian was caught speeding on his motorbike a few times and held his hands up,” a friend told The Sun.

“He isn’t proud of his actions and hasn’t contested the ban.

“Ian went to court without a legal representative and accepted the consequences.”

The friend went on to say that without his usual method of transport the pundit has been using a bicycle instead.

“He’s been using a pedal bike to get around and said he’d be more considerate in future,” they carried on.

While Ian’s pal noted the ban was a “bit embarrassing” for him, the footballer knew he needed to accept the consequences of his mistake.

“Now he is paying for it,” the friend added.

Ian’s hearing was scheduled at lavender Hill magistrates’ court in London.
