I’m a Celebrity 2020 star AJ Pritchard has revealed that producers help out the contestants on the show more than they like to let on.
AJ Pritchard was speaking to the Daily Star in conjunction with William Hill when he shared some juicy behind the scenes IMAC information.
He revealed that producers often offer a helping hand to contestants who request assistance in footage that is never shared with viewers.
AJ said: “I don’t know if it’s more breaking the rules or if it was like ‘guys I need help’.
“We said to producers ‘you know what, where we are sleeping there is a bit of a draft’ so we made them build a door in between where the beds are and where the campsite are.”
The former Strictly Come Dancing star also went on to mention that staff built a shed for their firewood – in order to help keep the material dry for them.
He continued: “But because it was always so wet and cold we made production build us a shed that we could put our wood in to keep dry, and then we could chop it easier and it would burn easier and cause less smoke.
“We ended up ‘grand designing ‘things that would make it better for us because it was not helping them as much as it wasn’t helping us.”
Last year’s series was the first in Wales, as it was moved from the warmer location of Australia due to Covid restrictions.
The show usually comes hand in hand with topless shots of the famous faces in there, which spurred AJ on to diet before he starred on the programme.
But upon joining the Welsh series, he soon realised this was all in vain as he never had take off his clothes due to the colder climate.
Aj added: “I starved myself to get a six-pack, I didn’t need a six-pack going into I’m a Celebrity. I should have left the fat on me to be warm.
“If you’re warm you’re like ‘hey, I’m warm. I’m looking ripped, I’ve got my clothes off’. But when you’re cold no one sees you and no one cares.”
The 26-year-old also shared his one regret from his time on the series, which came down to contraband.
He said: “I filled my jacket pockets with protein bars and breakfast bars and before going in they gave us lunch and lunch but I ended up eating these breakfast bars before instead.
“But upon going in, no one checked my pockets. So, I could have sneakily eaten them throughout my time there in the toilet – even though there is a microphone in the toilet.”
He also urges stars going on the upcoming series to break the rules and steal as much food as they can from challenges and banquets.
AJ stated: “Steal things, especially when they do a banquet – steal the food. Onions, things you can cook with afterwards. We stole some shallots and things to cook with the next day.”
