I'm A Celebrity Danny Miller's life – Hollyoaks ex, co-star 'fling' and famous dad

Former Emmerdale star Danny Miller was crowned the first ever King of the Castle in this year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! finale.

The Aaron Dingle star explained he hoped to show viewers a different side to him than the one they’ve seen on the soap – and it’s fair to say he did.

Even by soap standards, Aaron has had an eventful life, appearing in plots where he survived childhood sexual abuse and later saw his father go to prison for his crimes.

He has a history of self harming, has been to prison for GBH and his ex-husband is currently serving a life sentence for murder. It’s no wonder he’s not the cheeriest resident of Emmerdale village.

Luckily, actor Danny’s real life is a lot less dramatic, and as the ex-soap star adds King of the Castle to his CV, Daily Star has taken a look at his life…

Danny Miller won I’m a Celebrity…. Get Me Out of Here! 2021 after beating Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge and Corrie’s Simon Gregson in the finale.

He was stunned to silence as he sat on the thrown, admitting that he was “speechless for once”.

During his exit interview before the winner was announced, Danny admitted he did the show as he hadn’t been left “financially set” with his Emmerdale job.

Speaking of his newborn son Albert, he told Ant and Dec: “I mean the whole reason was that [I joined the show] and I’ve made no mistake or secret about it was that I wanted to be able to give him it [the money] and set him up for a good future and I wasn’t financially set for that.

“This is an opportunity to do that and I wanted to showcase that and set me and my family up and I feel like I’ve done it and I’m proud of myself so I hope my family are proud as well.”

Famous father

Danny’s dad Vince was a fixture at Old Trafford

Danny, 30, was born in Stockport and performing is in his genes. His father Vince Miller is a well-known singer and comedian from Stockport known as ‘the king of the comperes’.

He was a popular figure at Old Trafford and counted former manager Sir Alex Ferguson among his friends. He would interview Sir Alex, Sir Bobby Charlton. and other United legends on match days for fans enjoying corporate hospitality.

Danny is very close to his father and revealed he was inspired to follow in his footsteps.

“He’s a great compère, very funny and witty, and gets to do loads of things. I’ve been to Fergie’s birthdays and wedding anniversary’s as his guest,” he told The Mirror.

Love dramas

Danny and Kirsty-Leigh dated.

Danny won the British Soap Award for Best Actor three times in 2011, 2012 and 2016, for his role as troubled Aaron.

Some of the drama has occurred off screen, though. In 2016 a row erupted when it was claimed that Danny had cheated on his then-girlfriend Kirsty-Leigh Porter with his co-star Isabel Hodgins.

Isabel, who plays Victoria Sugden, was dating co-star Michael Parr (ex-Ross Barton) at the time.

Kirsty-Leigh, who plays Leela Lomax on Hollyoaks, and Danny eventually broke up.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Isabel and Danny thought they could keep their romance secret but when Kirsty-Leigh saw the texts on his phone, the game was up. She was furious.”

Love Island critique

Danny followed his screen mum Lucy Pargeter on to I’m A Celebrity

He may have signed up for reality TV now, but during the summer Danny was less of a fan.

In a subsequently deleted tweet, sent in the early hours of the morning, he wrote: “We live in a world where our younger generation are pushed to “find love” in a villa with the biggest bunch of b***ends you’d ever meet in your life.

“Aged 24 and “found love” on a TV show with a girl who has 72 different shades of lipstick colours that make you want to give up.”

The star is known for his fiery temperament on social media, so the castle may give him a much-needed break.

New arrival

Danny and Steph are planning their wedding

Danny and fiancée Steph Jones welcomed little Albert in October, and explained in an interview that it hadn’t been an easy journey for them.

Midwife Steph, who has polycystic ovary syndrome, and Danny had been trying to to conceive for a year before she fell pregnant and they were days away from starting IVF.

Danny told OK! magazine: “I know it sounds like a cliché but I keep calling him a miracle baby, and in a way he is.

Danny and Steph are now proud parents

“But either way if he’d come naturally or through IVF we didn’t really care, we just knew we were destined to be a mum and dad. Now it feels like he’s been here all our lives.”

He added: “We know we’re very lucky and we appreciate that there are a lot of couples who can’t do it.”
