I’m a Celeb’s Victoria Derbyshire admits she keeps in touch with campmates 'most days'

Loose Women’sVictoria Derbyshire has admitted she keeps in touch with her former I’m a Celeb contestants almost one year on from her time in the Welsh castle.

And as viewers prepare for the ITV reality show to return to out screens later this year, the award-winning broadcaster revealed how happy she was that she joined the show in Wales rather than travelling to Australia.

The 52-year-old joined the cast for the challenging show last year for the 20th series of the show which took place in Gwrych Castle in North Wales due to the ongoing global pandemic.

And it appears that this year’s contestants will be returning to the castle grounds once again rather than their usual digs in the jungle down under.

The mum-of-two joined Lorraine Kelly on her hit daytime show on Wednesday to celebrate her five-year milestone being cancer free ahead of Macmillan’s annual coffee morning this Friday.

And Victoria confessed that she actually preferred to compete in the reality show in Wales so that she could “go home quicker” rather than travelling back from Australia where the show is usually filmed.

The TV presenter couldn’t have enjoyed her time on the show more as she explained how close the cast got while they camped out in the grizzling wet castle during the British winter.

She told viewers: “There are such an amazing group of people. We had such a laugh!

“We’re still all friends, were on the WhatsApp group most days.

“I just went for it, I thought I am just going to embrace this experience.”

Many of the celeb contestants met up once more at the National Television Awards

This comes after the cast of I’m a Celeb reunited for the National Television Awards which took place earlier this month.

The celebrity contestants of the 2020 series attended the awards ceremony, where the ITV show picked up The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment gong.

The evening was documented by the castle pals on social media, with AJ posting a number of selfies with the castle queen Giovanna holding the award.
