Inside EastEnders Chelsea star Zaraah Abrahams' rival soap role as Corrie factory worker

Zaraah Abrahams joined the cast of EastEnders as Chelsea Fox on Christmas Day last year.

The mischievous daughter of Denise Fox unexpectedly popped up in Albert Square alongside her serial killer dad Lucas Johnson.

Fans of the BBC One soap will remember that Lucas killed his ex-wife Trina and Denise’s ex-hubby Owen Turner.

He also made it seem that Denise had killed herself when he was actually holding her hostage in an abandoned house in Walford.

The role of Chelsea was originally played by actress Tiana Benjamin.

EastEnders isn’t the first taste of Soapland for actress Zaraah.

She previously played Joanne Jackson in Coronation Street from 2005 until 2007.

As well as appearing in two of the nation’s favourite soaps, Zaraah has also appeared on Dancing on Ice.

She appeared on the ITV ice-skating show as a replacement for Michael Underwood.

Daily Star has taken a look back into Zaraah’s time as Corrie factory worker Joanne.

Steamy love life

After Jamie Baldwin had called it quits with Leanne Battersby, he took a shine to Joanne and wanted to ask her on a date.

The lad got his wish and even though the evening wasn’t the roaring success he’d hoped for, the pair did fancy each other and even shared a cheeky snog.

Jamie and Joanne had intended to meet up again, but issues with his alcoholic mum Carol threw a spanner in the works.

Soon after, the ill-fated couple decided it was best to put a lid on their romance before it got started, agreeing it was too soon after Jamie ended things with Leanne.

Joanne went on a date with Adam Barlow after that before ending up having a fling with boss Liam Connor.

Family drama

Just as Chelsea returned to Albert Square with her wicked dad, Joanne didn’t show up in Weatherfield alone.

She first arrived with sister Jessie – who actually turned out to be her cousin – and the siblings enjoyed life on the street together for a little while.

But Underworld eventually gave Jessie the boot, inspiring her to head off and make it as cabin crew and leaving Joanne gutted.

In 2007, Joanne confessed to Hayley Cropper that she was an illegal immigrant who was brought to the UK from Liberia when she was eight.

A little later, immigration officers raided the factory thanks to Janice’s efforts to get new Polish workers fired, and Joanne was arrested.

In the end, she was released and continued working at the factory, but it wasn’t long before boss Carla Connor sent her packing due to an “overstaffing” issue – last one in, first one out!

Joanne threatened Liam and Carla with legal action, forcing the pair to pay up, and she took the cash and ran.
